Our School

The Rice School, also known as La Escuela Rice, is a K-8 STEM Magnet School  within the Houston Independent School District (HISD). It serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

The school's core mission revolves around providing challenging academic experiences within a nurturing environment. It aims to develop students into lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens prepared for a diverse, democratic society. The Rice School/La Escuela Rice's vision is to foster a "College Bound" culture by emphasizing effective teaching and learning, with all adults expecting high levels of learning from all students.
